Bepathen is a brand name of a diaper rash protectorant and treatment marketed by Bayer Healthcare to parents in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Bepanthen is available as a colorless, odorless cream or ointment with a 5 percent concentration of depanthenol, which is similar in nature to vitamin B5. The diaper rash remedy is safe for use on infants with all skin types.
Step 1
Clean your baby's diaper area with a wipe or soft cloth as usual during a diaper change.
Step 2
Pat your baby's bottom dry with a soft cloth or allow the skin to air dry if possible. Prolonged exposure to moisture can be one of the causes of diaper rash and should be eliminated before using Bepanthen.
Step 3
Squeeze out a small strip of Bepanthen and gently rub on the skin on your baby's bare bottom. Although the ointment is considered to be hypoallergenic, you may want to test on a small area of skin before using on your child's entire backside.
Step 4
Outfit your baby with a clean diaper after you have applied Bepanthen.
Step 5
Reapply the ointment as needed during each diaper change or as needed according to symptoms. Bayer Healthcare explains that Bepanthen is gentle enough to be used every time you change your child's diaper without adverse effects.
