Dimpled skin is a product of fat deposits--called cellulite--that rest under the surface of the skin. Topical solutions like gels and creams make claims to rid your body of cellulite, but this is not possible. You can minimize the appearance of cellulite through fat loss, but there is no way to get rid of cellulite completely, according to the Mayo Clinic. Participating in a diet and exercise program will decrease your body-fat percentage and minimize the appearance of cellulite in the abdomen.
Step 1
Train with weights three to four days per week. Use compound exercises that work multiple muscle groups at one time to increase productivity and decrease your workout time, notes Bodybuilding.com. Try exercises like chest press for the chest; pull-ups for back; squats for legs; and planks for abs. Lift with heavy resistance for four sets of 10 to 12 repetitions to see the most results.
Step 2
Work your abs after resistance training. Perform exercises like crunches, leg raises and oblique crunches for four sets of 25 repetitions to build your abdominal muscles for a tighter appearance.
Step 3
Perform high-intensity interval training to burn the fat and reveal your muscles. Hop on the stationary bike and pedal at a fast pace for 30 seconds and a slower pace for one minute. Repeat for 20 minutes. The constant changes in speed will keep your body guessing and burn more fat, according to a May 3, 2007 "New York Times" article.
Step 4
Avoid high-sodium processed foods that cause water retention and bloating. Eat natural foods like vegetables, fruits, whole grains like oatmeal or whole-grain bread, low fat dairy like cottage cheese, eggs and lean beef, fish or skinless chicken to increase your metabolism and help decrease bloating caused by processed foods, according to the BBC News.
