Rejuvenation exercises combat fatigue and stress, which drains your energy. These exercises should make you feel relaxed and energized. Some people may find doing rejuvenation exercises in the morning will kick off their day right and warm up the body. Some exercises, like the corpse pose from yoga, are also a way to end a workout routine to calm the mind and relax the body.
Tibetan Morning Neck Warm-up
The Tibetan morning neck warm-up is a rejuvenation exercise that stretches the neck and back gently. This might feel good if you slept on an unfamiliar pillow while traveling or if your neck is stiff. It is also a way to warm up and stretch the spine. To do this exercise, kneel on a mat or pillow so your knees are protected from a hard surface. Place both knees together on the pillow and relax your lower legs on the mat. Straighten your thighs, spine and neck so they are perpendicular to your lower legs. Hold your arms against the sides of your thighs. Next, bend your neck forward slowly and breathe out. Lift the chin and tilt the head backward while placing your palms lightly on your lower back. Breathe in as you move your head backward. Relax your lower back and arch the back. Repeat with the proper breathing pattern. This exercise is similar to camel pose in yoga, but less extreme.
Whirling Dervish Rejuventaion Exercise
Spinning around like a whirling dervish is another Tibetan rejuvenation exercise. This exercise has the potential to make you dizzy. Spot with your head like a ballerina when you turn to reduce dizziness. You should stop if you feel dizzy. Otherwise, this exercise is exhilarating. To do the whirling dervish, stand up straight with your arms at your sides and perpendicular to your body. Choose a spot on the wall and focus on it. Spin to the right and keep your head looking at the spot as long as possible. Whip your head around to find the spot again. Spin a complete 360 degrees and then keep going up to 21 times around. Even though you are looking at a spot, keep your gaze soft so your vision blurs. Breathe deeply into your abdomen as you whirl and afterward.
Corpse Pose
Corpse pose in yoga seems like the simplest thing in the world. It is the only pose you can seemingly hold forever. All you have to do is lie on your back and relax. But relaxing is difficult for most people, especially when asked to relax everything. Corpse pose is physically easy, but as any yoga student knows, yoga is not just physical. To do corpse pose for relaxation and rejuvenation, lie on your back with your arms at your sides and let your legs fall open toward the floor to relax. Breathe through your nose and reach deep into your abdomen. Relax your legs, glutes, hips, stomach, hands, arms, chest, shoulder blades, throat and every part of yourself up to your face. Relax your jaw, tongue, eyebrows and forehead. Let your eyes turn down toward your heart. Think of melting every part of yourself into your yoga mat and stay there for at least five minutes.
