The key to successful weight loss is to eat fewer calories than your body needs, according to the Harvard School of Public Health. The Special K diet, created by the Kellogg's food company, is an easy-to-follow, low-calorie weight loss plan. Most dieters who follow the program lose 6 pounds in two weeks, according to Every Diet website.
Rule One
Rule one of the Special K diet is to eat two servings of Special K cereal with 1/2 cup of skim milk twice a day. You can eat the cereal for breakfast and lunch or dinner, according to Every Diet. You can choose any cereal flavor, such as blueberry, chocolatey delight or protein plus, according to the Special K website. A bowl of Special K with 1/2 cup of skim milk contains about 200 calories.
Rule Two
Rule two says to make your third meal a nutritionally balanced low-fat meal, according to the Every Diet website. The Tips and Tools section of the Special K Challenge website offers recipe ideas, including skillet shrimp with tomatoes and feta with 475 calories or a roasted corn and chicken tostada for 270 calories. Special K suggests you "prep your pantry" and shop for your Special K diet before starting the challenge and throw away all high-calorie foods to limit temptation.
Rule Three
Eat two snacks a day consisting of fresh fruits or vegetables, crackers, Special K protein snack bars, cereal bars or Special K water. Snacks can be consumed at any time, according to the Special K website. Try to keep snacks readily available so you don't buy a high-calorie replacement.
Rule Four
You can drink as much water or watered-down fruit juice as you like, says Every Diet. In fact, all beverages are allowed on the Special K diet except alcohol. Special K2O is high-protein high-fiber water mix you can add to your water to help control hunger.
