Whether it's shedding those few extra pounds for the beach or looking good for that upcoming event, men always want to look their best when it counts. Unlike flipping on the television or making a cup of coffee, losing weight is not a quick fix. It takes time and effort to lose weight; however, there are a few things that you can do to drop a few pounds relatively fast. Consult your doctor before beginning any new diet or exercise regimen.
Low-Carb Diet
A low-carb diet limits your intake of grains, rice, bread, starches and fruit. Carbohydrates are the first thing your body digests and burns. Eating a diet of carbohydrates, fat and protein leave the fat and protein stored by the body. When you cut out the carbohydrates, the body turns to fat and protein to burn, which leaves you feeling lighter -- and sheds a few pounds quickly. The high-protein diet often acts as a diuretic. Foods you can eat while in a low-carb diet generally include meat, cheese, poultry, fish, eggs and non-starchy vegetables.
Supplemental Drinks
Instead of trying to plan a secret-formula meal for quickly losing weight, drop two of your meals per day and supplement them with protein drinks. First, drink a lot of water. Drinking a lot of water will help keep you feeling full without consuming any calories. For breakfast, try a protein drink that is low in calories and sugar and high in protein; you can find many such drinks at your local drug store, grocery store or vitamin shop. Eating a sensible dinner along with exercise will help you to drop some unwanted pounds quickly.
Water Weight Reduction
Extra water weight can add some extra pounds to your body. Increased levels of sodium will cause you to retain more water than your body needs. Cut out the sodium with a few extra steps to your daily routine. Don't put extra salt on your food; look for food labels that have little or no sodium. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Frozen and processed foods have a lot of sodium; eating fresh food will give your body what it needs without the unnecessary sodium. Drink at least eight glasses of water a day to flush out your system and help you to drop the water weight.
