RV Campgrounds in Northeastern Minnesota

The northeastern Minnesota landscaped is dotted with inland lakes set amongst dense forests. RV camping in the area is available in a number of environments ranging from forested campgrounds next to wild forests and waterways, like those near the state's northern border, to campgrounds on inland lakes, like those south of the boundary waters. If you prefer, find a place to camp overlooking Lake Superior's north shore.

North Shore

Minnesota's north shore on Lake Superior is a rocky landscape with scenic rivers and waterfalls throughout the area. Penmarallter Campground, in Two Harbors, has RV campsites with showers, indoor restrooms, a dump station and wireless Internet. The campground has 24 pull-through sites, five with water, sewer and electrical hookups, and 19 with only water and electrical hookups. The sites accommodate RVs up to 50 feet long.

Voyageurs National Park

Voyageurs National Park is located on the northern border of Minnesota. The park is a water wilderness area famous for its remote canoeing waterways. Though there are no RV campsites inside the park, you can park your rig at Pine Aire Resort on Lake Kabetogama along the western edge of the park. The resort features dock service, boat rentals and a swimming beach. The campground has water and electricity hookups for RVs, and an indoor shower and restroom facility.

Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness

The Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness area is located along the northern Minnesota border between Voyageurs National Park and Lake Superior. The region is composed of nearly as much water as land, making it navigable only by canoe or powerboat. Canoe Country Outfitters offers RV camping facilities on the edge of the wilderness. The campground features a sauna, laundry room, store, restroom, showers and full utility hookups. Use the campground as your base camp while you explore the vast maze of waterways.

Inland Lakes

Birch Lake RV Park is situated along Birch Lake near the town of Babbitt. The campground, set amidst a wooded area, is suited for both large RV and tents. Water, sewer and electrical hookups are available at all RV sites. A beach and boat ramp are within walking distance from the campground. Indoor showers and restrooms are available on site. The camping season lasts from May to October, and on-site RV storage is available during the winter months.

State Parks

Minnesota state parks range in camping accommodations from RV sites with full hookups to primitive tent sites in the remote backcountry. Most state parks have some form of RV accommodations. Temperance River State Park upstream from Lake Superior has 18 RV sites among its 52 total drive-in campsites. Each of these RV sites has electrical hookups and is large enough to accommodate RVs and camper trailers up to 60 feet long. Two sites in the campground are pull-through designs. Indoor showers and restrooms are located on site.
