As you get older, you may find your libido decreasing. However, sexual activity is an important part of a healthy lifestyle; sex relieves stress and pain, improves your mood and increases immunity. Introducing regular physical activity into your daily routine, along with libido-specific exercises, can help increase your sex drive and lead to more and better sexual activity.
Kegels
Women can practice Kegel exercises by contracting the muscle used to stop urinary flow. Holding and releasing this contraction several times a day can strengthen the muscles in the pelvic area, leading to increased sexual pleasure.
Regular Exercise
Any exercise improves your general health, which includes your sexual health. People who exercise regularly are more likely to be sexually active and enjoy sex more, notes the University of California, Santa Barbara. If you do not currently exercise, try going on a walk a few times a week. Gradually step up the intensity of your workouts; increased endurance during exercise will translate to increased endurance during sex. Always consult with a doctor before beginning any exercise program.
Yoga
Practicing yoga can make you more flexible and increase blood flow and circulation in your body, leading to increased sexual health. Many yoga positions target the pelvic and groin areas, making yoga an ideal libido exercise; some of these positions include warrior, locust, butterfly and upward facing dog. Locust pose, for example, involves lying on your stomach and lifting your head, torso and legs, which strengthens and increases blood flow to your pelvic area. Warrior pose, in which you stand with arms and legs apart, helps open the hips and strengthen the abs. For even more increased libido, try a "couples yoga" class with your partner.
Strength Training
Add some strength training to your workout to increase your stamina while holding a position--an essential bedroom skill. Light weightlifting, ab exercises and core strengthening can all help you feel stronger. Lifting light weights for several repetitions helps prevent leg and foot cramping, which sometimes occurs during sexual activity. Use weight machines that target both the upper and lower body, and try crunches, sit-ups and push-ups to tone and stabilize your core.
