In certified organic processed foods like vitamins, U.S. Department of Agriculture regulations do not allow the use of artificial colors and flavors, preservatives and monosodium glutamate, also known as MSG, according to the USDA. Check with your baby's doctor before giving her vitamins, because deficiency or high intake can be unhealthy. A baby can become blind if there is a vitamin A deficiency or sustain liver and bone damage if an excessive amount of vitamin A is taken, according to the World Health Organization.
