What To Look For
Hip hop dancers are known for having a serious shoe fetish, and c-walkers are no exception. Although there are a couple of brands and styles of shoe that are popular in the c-walking community, Nike shoes are the most popular. The Nike Cortez in particular has a thick, astronaut-boot-type sole that wearers claim "felt like running on the moon." Other favored c-walking shoes-- Adidas Originals, Air Force Ones and Converse All-Stars--also have this thick sole.
Common Pitfalls
Buying a pair of Nike Cortez--or any other pair of c-walking sneakers--isn't going to instantly make you c-walk better. Also, a flashier or more brightly colored pair of kicks won't necessarily cater to your shoe needs better than a more basic pair. You should always try on your shoes before you buy them, to make sure that they properly fit your feet and that you can successfully c-walk in them.
Where To Buy
Nike and Adidas are both athletic shoe brands, so you can find them at any athletic shoe specialty store, such as Foot Locker. Make sure that you have a salesperson help you fit the shoes before you purchase them. You should walk--or in this case, c-walk--while you are at the store to insure that the shoes are the perfect pair for you.
Cost
A pair of Nike Cortez shoes can range anywhere from a basic $40 pair to a custom-designed $120 pair. Adidas Originals range from $45 for children's shoes to around $100 for a pair of adult shoes.
