It is an unfortunate fact of life that as we age the skin on our faces begins to sag. From wrinkles to those unsightly sunken hollows, our faces often belie our true age. The good news is that with diet and exercise we can help slow the aging process, and maybe even turn back the hands of time a little! You should consult with your doctor to determine whether these exercises are right for you.

Cheek Exercise

When the skin of your cheeks begins to sag it can look like we're older than we are, but this exercise is designed to help restore elasticity to your skin, according to LifeMojo.com. It is performed by forming a relaxed smile with your mouth closed and sucking in your cheeks. Your cheeks should be pulled in enough that they are resting onto your teeth, the website recommends. This position should be held for about 10 seconds and repeated 10 times.

Cheek, Jowl and Chin Exercise

This exercise is recommended by the website FacialExercisesGuide.com as a way to firm and tone the skin around your face. Relax your face and lift your head until you are looking at the ceiling. Push your tongue toward the roof of your mouth and hold this position while you swallow. Tilt your head slightly to the left and repeat the swallow while holding your tongue in place. Repeat this exercise with your head tilted to the right. The website recommends that you perform four repetitions of this exercise in each direction.

Pucker Up

Sit in a comfortable position with your mouth closed and relaxed. Pucker your lips as if you were pouting and hold this position for about 10 seconds, according to the facial exercise page at Ageless.com. Be sure that you are using the muscles of your cheeks to perform this exercise. If you are unsure, the website suggests that you touch your cheeks with your fingers to ensure that they are contracted when holding the puckered position. This exercise should be repeated 10 times, or as directed by your doctor.
