Belly fat is not only unsightly, but also dangerous. Fat located around the abdomen can lead to heart disease, diabetes and cancer. However, it may not be fat that is causing the bulge in your mid-section. More often than not, bloating is the reason. Bloating occurs when you don't drink enough water, drink too much caffeine or sodium, or are having digestive problems. By drinking water throughout the day and refraining from soda and coffee, you will cut enough calories from your diet to lose weight and put an end to mid-section bloating. One soda can equal up to 180 calories, and one cup of juice can equal up to 200 calories. By replacing those beverages with water, you will surely flush fat from your body.

Step 1

Locate a journal for recordkeeping.

Step 2

Measure your waist and record the inches in your journal.

Step 3

Write down all the liquids and foods you are consuming prior to beginning the flush.

Step 4

Stop drinking coffee, soda and juice, and allow water to be the only beverage you drink. Refrain from eating foods with additives and preservatives, as they might be causing digestive problems.

Step 5

Record the amount of water you are drinking throughout the day and when you are thirsty.

Step 6

Measure your waist and record your results.
