Overview

Blackheads seem to gravitate to the nose area. A blackhead is known scientifically as an open comedone. Blackheads appear black not because there is dirt in your pores, but because sebaceous oil has plugged up and become oxidized in your pores. Many products such as strips help remove and keep blackheads from reappearing, and can be bought at drugstores. Soap and creams can help.

Cleanser Solution

Step 1

Wet your skin with warm water.

Step 2

Wet the soap and rub it between your hands to create a lather.

Step 3

Rub the lather into your skin to remove excess oil and dead skin cells, but focus on your nose. Make sure to cover every nook and cranny. Do this as gently as possible so that your skin doesn't become inflamed.

Step 4

Use warm water to rinse your face, and pat it dry with a clean towel. Be sure to repeat these steps twice a day for the best results.

Step 5

Apply a topical acne cream that contains benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. These ingredients help regulate your skin and keep new blackheads from forming.

Blackhead Nose Strips

Step 1

Take a hot shower or steam your face over a pan on a stove (don't get too close) so that the pores on your nose open and release the blackheads more freely.

Step 2

Wet one strip and place it on your nose.

Step 3

Remove the strip after 10 minutes. Make sure to remove it in one swift motion to effectively remove all blackheads.

Step 4

Wash your nose with cold water so that your pores close and don't become susceptible to infection or further blackheads.

Step 5

Repeat these steps as needed. Using this treatment is not a permanent solution to getting rid of blackheads on your nose.

Tips and Warnings

  • Wash your face in the morning and at night, and apply the acne cream at night before you go to bed.
  • If your skin becomes irritated or your skin doesn't clear up in four to eight weeks, see a dermatologist.
