BMI (body mass index) is an age- and sex-specific measurement that ranks you as underweight, normal weight, overweight, or obese. BMI is used to measure body fat percentage. The body fat percentage is very important when understanding your weight. While you may be considered overweight, you might have a low body fat percentage, meaning that you have more muscle than fat and are in a healthy body fat range.
Step 1
Prepare to calculate with pencil and paper or with a calculator.
Step 2
Calculate your BMI by dividing your weight over the square of your height.
Step 3

Step 4
Record your results.
