Skate Parks in East Texas

A skate park is a facility where skaters and BMX riders can ride and practice tricks across a variety of obstacles, and east Texas houses its fair share. Skateboarding, in-line skating and BMX riding are healthy, alternative forms of cardio that work muscles untouched by conventional exercise. Whether you want concrete structures or large vert ramps, east Texas has a skate park for you.

Eisenbergs Skate Park

In-line skating X Games Gold Medalist Arlo Eisenberg built Eisenbergs Skate Park in Plano, Texas, in 1997. Allowing both skaters and bikers, the park was designed for beginners up to pro-level athletes. The park itself remains open seven days per week and maintains more than 30,000 square feet, which includes launch ramps, rails, quarter-pipes, half-pipes, grind boxes, a foam pit and more. Helmets and a signed waiver are required, and Eisenbergs offers park memberships for reduced admission fees. The park also offers lessons, camps, party packages, rental gear, a skate shop and concessions. Throughout the year, Eisenbergs hosts demos, live music events and amateur and professional competitions.

The Edge at Allen Station Park

The Edge in Allen, Texas, includes a concrete skate park, BMX track, two roller-hockey rinks and a visitor center. The Edge is free and open daily with rental gear available. Designed and built by Site Design Group from Tempe, Arizona, the outdoor 37,915-square-foot park contains ledges, rails, fun boxes, a picnic table and bowls up to about nine feet deep. The skate park, run by the city, allows bikes with covered pegs.

Alliance Skate Park

Located in Grand Prairie, Texas, this indoor/outdoor facility is funded by the city's Parks and Recreation Department. The $1.2 million outdoor skate park includes an advanced outdoor course, intermediate/advanced covered course, a beginner's area and a skate shop. The gigantic facility has everything a skater could want, including transitions, rails, drop-ins, walls and boxes of all shapes and sizes. The park is managed by Action Park Alliance, a skate park programming and management organization that also runs parks in Florida and California. Alliance Skate Park charges admission, but it also offers different membership and party packages. It also hosts events, lessons and camps. The park is open daily except during January and February, when it is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Noble E. Young Skate Park

This free, outdoor skate park in Tyler, Texas, is part of the Noble E. Young Park, funded and run by the Tyler City Council and the Parks and Recreation Department. Opened in 1998, the skate park is geared toward beginner to intermediate athletes and allows bikes. Obstacles include a vert ramp, mini-ramps, quarter-pipes, rails, boxes and more. Protective gear is encouraged, but not required.

Humble Skate Park

Located in Humble, Texas, this outdoor skate park has wedges, boxes, rails, spines and quarter-pipes for all skill levels. The park hosts skate camps and competitions throughout the year, and it gives park volunteers the chance to earn a college scholarship. Humble Skate Park charges admission, and its fluctuating hours are segmented in three-hour sessions. The park offers monthly and yearly membership packages, and helmets and a signed liability waiver are required.
