The Birdwing Spa in Litchfield is home to the Journey to Wellness weight-loss program. The program helps participants make healthy lifestyle choices instead of using quick fixes for weight problems. Visitors to the spa can enjoy fitness and nutrition classes, one-on-one health consultations and healthy cooking demonstrations. Those staying at the spa a week or more can participate in the Journey to Wellness program. If you have a desire to participate in a more intense program, enroll in the Journey to Wellness intensive four-week session. This option requires participants to lose at least 20 lbs., but weight loss goals are often much higher. Those who reach their preset goal receive a $500 credit toward a future stay at the spa or a check for $250. Anyone who maintains their goal weight for six months following their stay receives another $500 credit or check for $250.

Support and a Plan of Action

At Midwest Weight Control in Maple Grove, weight loss happens fast. Participants choose between four weight-loss programs, including one designed for bariatric surgery patients. The "Take Action Program" offers a gradual weight loss of up to 40 lbs. in 12 weeks. The "Fast Track Program" is for those who wish to lose 50 lbs. or more or those who want to lose weight as quickly as possible. The plan includes using meal replacement bars and shakes. The "Tune-Up Program" is for former participants who have gained after completing one of the other programs. Finally, the bariatric support group offers counseling and nutrition information to those who have undergone weight-loss surgery.

Lifestyle Changes

To achieve lasting health, lifestyle changes are necessary. The SlimGenics clinics located throughout Minnesota help overweight people make these changes and understand the connection between their actions and their bodies. Counselors help participants plan healthy meals with everyday foods that are rich in vitamins and low in carbohydrates, fat and sodium.

Lakeside Fitness

If you have great eating habits but you would like to increase your fitness levels, the Look Great at the Lake Bootcamp in Chanhassen is the solution for you. Exercise classes meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 6:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. and Monday and Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. All fitness levels are welcome because the program uses a time system instead of an interval system. This means participants do as much as they can within a set time frame instead of having to complete a set number of repetitions. The program is operated by certified personal trainer Justin Yule.
