A camping trip is an exciting way to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life and enjoy quality time with your family. A big part of the camping experience is gathering around the campfire on a starry night for a traditional campfire meal. Classic camping foods are easy to transport, prepare and store for freshness. When it comes to camp food, the best option is to keep it as simple as possible.
Breakfast
Breakfast can be as simple as cereal and milk or a hearty breakfast of crispy bacon, eggs and pancakes. Trail mix and granola bars along with a serving of fresh fruit like bananas and oranges are another idea for a simple yet healthy breakfast that will keep you energized until lunchtime. Breakfast tacos are a no-fuss creative breakfast choice. Use a small skillet to scramble together the eggs and diced red onions and peppers over the fire. Finally, spoon the egg and vegetable mixture into a flour tortilla and top with cheese, sour cream, chopped bacon and salsa.
Lunch

Snacks should be simple to prepare and easy for people to eat while sitting around an open fire. Peanut butter cookies and homemade brownies are ideal choices for a camping trip. Packing portable snacks like pretzels, dried fruits, trail mix, mixed nuts, fruit jerky and peanut butter and crackers are great ways to provide your family with healthy, great tasting snacks.
Beverages
Beverages are an important part of the camping experience. A flavorful cup of hot tea or coffee sipped around the camp fire provides a nice ending to a long day of hiking and exploring. Bring along a variety of cold and hot beverages including bottled water, canned soda, iced tea, homemade fruit punch, juice boxes and hot cocoa.
