Pet-Friendly Fishing Resorts in Tennessee

Tennessee is full of lakes, rivers and streams, so it's only natural that fishing resorts have sprung up all around the state. You'll find many pet-friendly resorts, in large part because fishing resorts often have hunting onsite as well, and many hunters like to bring their dogs for retrieval. If you're planning on boating or fishing in Tennessee, you must have the correct license and/or permit, so check the regulations before you go out.

Piney Point Resort

The Piney Point Resort in Spring City is on Watts Bar Lake in the Tennessee Valley. Situated between the Smokies and the Cumberland Plateau. Completely surrounded by trees, the fall foliage is stunning, especially reflected off the lake's calm waters. You can rent a boat and fishing equipment onsite, and after a long day on the lake, head back to your fully furnished cabin. Piney Point allows pets for a charge of $15 per day.

Lakeside Resort

At the Lakeside Resort in Smithville, pets are welcome as long as they are kept on a leash in public areas. There are seven designated pet-friendly cabins at Lakeside, ranging from one-room studios to three bedrooms which sleep nine guests. If you didn't bring your fishing gear, you can get it all at Lakeside, including boat slips, pontoons, jet skis, fishing boats and tackle. The resort's Central Lake was named the best fishing spot in Tennessee by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

Bluebank Resort

The Bluebank Resort on Reelfoot Lake has fishing, duck and deer hunting packages. There are several types of lodging accommodations at Bluebank, and pets are allowed in select rooms that the motel and restaurant location. Reelfoot Lake is the place to go for good fishing year-round. If you're after catfish, go in the summer. For crappie, the season runs from October through March. Bluegill are best caught in May and June, when the lake's at its warmest.

Birdsong Resort, Marina and Campground

Birdsong is where you go if you want all the amenities without the hassle of bringing your gear. You can rent a boat, take it out using Birdsong's free boat launch, and dock it at the 140-slip marina. You can rent an RV, use the swimming pool, build a campfire and take in the area with your pet, as long as it's on a leash. The resort also features the only freshwater pearl culturing farm in North America.

Blue Basin Cove Bed and Breakfast

Located on the Upper Blue Basin of Reelfoot Lake, this is the place to go for a quiet, relaxing fishing or bird watching trip. Blue Basin offers fishing packages and boat rentals if you don't have your own, but does not have or allow jet skis or water skiing in the immediate area. A bait shop on the premises has licenses, tackle, permits, ice and bait. Pets are allowed on the grounds and in the rooms, all of which are on the lake.
