Extenze is a supplement that may enhance male sexual performance by increasing the length and width of an erection. It is important to note that the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) does not endose the use of this or any other supplement to treat or cure any disease or disorder. Extenze contains many herbs as well as precursors to testosterone.
Male Prohormone Blend
Each Extenze pill contains 60 mg of "Extenze Male Prohormone Support," which is 50 mg of micronized dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) and 10 mg of pregnenolone. DHEA is the precursor for hormones including testosterone and estrogen. Pregnenolone is the chemical precursor to many other hormones, including DHEA, testosterone, estrogen, progresterone, and cortisol. Presumably, increasing pregnenolone and DHEA would increase testosterone and DHEA levels, leading to enhanced sexual performance.
Bio-Enhancement Support
Extenze contains 25 mg of "Bio-Enhancement Support." This includes black pepper seed, piper longum, and ginger root. Black pepper may increase circulation, with the intended effect of increasing blood flow to the penis and enhancing erections. Piper longum may increase sexual drive, or libido. Ginger may increase libido, enhance sexual performance, and increase erection duration.
Sexual Repsonse Enhancement Support
Extenze also contains 600 mg of "Sexual Repsonse Enhancement Support." All of the herbs or chemicals included may increase libido and enhance sexual performance, as reported by supplement makers. This includes yohimbe bark extract, which is 12.5 mg of yohimbe, tribulus terrestrius extract, Korean ginseng extract from root, cnidium monnier seed, eleutherococcus extract from root, damiana leaf, muira puama extract from stem, pumpkin seed, stinging nettle root, boron, astragalus root, Xanthroparmelia scarbosa, velvet deer antler, horny goat weed leaf, ho shou wu extract from root, licorice extract from root, and the inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). Extenze also contains the amino acid L-arginine, which helps make nitric oxide, a chemical that is important for erections.
Fillers
Extenze includes several fillers that make the Extenze pills larger, help the active ingredients bind to the rest of the pill, and prevent moisture from dissolving the pills. These fillers include microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, dicalcium phosphate, and silica.
Coatings
Extenze has a film coating that includes hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose, which prevents moisture from getting into the Extenze pill. Extenze also contains the food color FD&C Blue #1 aluminum lake, as well as the pearling agent titanium dioxide, which makes pills shiny and white. Extenze also include the plasticizers polyethylene glycol (PEG) 8000 and 400, which can prevent the Extenze pills from being digested in the stomach and increase the chances of Extenze being properly absorbed in the intestinal tract. Lecithin makes the Extenze pill easier to swallow. Extenze also contains dextrin, maltodextrine, and dextrose monohydrate in the coating, all of which are fillers and are sometimes used as additives in a speed drying manufacturing process.
Maunufacturing Additives
Extenze also contains the additives stearic acid and magnesium stearate. Magnesium stearate and stearic acid are lubricants that expedite pill manufacture by helping the pill mixture flow smoothly.
