If you plan to visit family members or live in The Villages, a great way to stay physically fit is a game of bowling. "Florida's Friendliest Hometown" is an active retirement destination in Florida. The community offers family-friendly and adult-activities throughout. It is a place where you can try new things such as bowling with friend or a bowling league.

Places to Bowl

The Villages Bowling operates Fiesta Bowl on Avenida Central and Spanish Springs Lane on Alverez Avenue. Both locations have 32 lanes with automatic bumpers, 40 feet monitors and automatic scoring. Children can bowl free at both locations.

Dining Options

Whether you prefer bowling at Fiesta Bowl or Spanish Springs, you have access to on-site restaurants. McCall's Tavern is located at the Spanish Springs Lane. You can sit back and watch your favorite sports game on one of the eight 40 feet televisions or the 10-foot big screen. Many people sit on the patio to listen to the music and Happy Hour is 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. during the week. Tony Pack's restaurant sits in the Fiesta Bowl, where you can order plenty of friend foods, hot dogs nachos or plate specials, such as a sausage platter or chili mac.

Leagues

Both bowling lanes have a variety of leagues, including mixed, men's only, women's only and youth and fun leagues. Most of the leagues meet at the Spanish Springs Lanes location, however, a few conduct meetings at the La Hacienda Center or Savannah Center. If you realize you enjoy bowling ate in life or cannot knock down a pin, you might be interested in the Bad Bowlers or Ernie's Late Starter Leagues.

Special Bowling Nights

Save money every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Spanish Spring Lane. Your entire family can enjoy a bowling game for only $.25 after paying a $6 cover charge, as of September 2010. Hot dogs, beverages, shoe rentals and bowling are only 25 cents. You can also save money on Saturdays by arriving early. The earlier you arrive the cheaper the rate is per game. For example, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., you can play $1.50 per game; from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., the price goes to $2 per game, as of September 2010.

Nearby Entertainment

After a few hours of bowling in The Villages, you may still have time for other area attractions about five miles away. You can take grandchildren to Wayne's World of Paintball in Ocala or Old River Paintball in Ocklawaha. You can spend the rest of the day playing miniature golf, riding go karts or accessing as watching grandchildren play as many games as they want at the on-site arcades at the Ocala Easy Street Family Fun Center.
