Wrightsville Beach Campgrounds

From its early days of settlement, Wrightsville Beach was an attractive area for fishermen and hunters. Today the waters of Wrightsville Beach continue to lure visitors and residents to the area with its natural beauty and ideal location for outdoor activities. Whether you are planning to travel to the area by RV or are looking for a campground to pitch a tent, Wrightsville Beach has much to offer.

Geography

Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina is located 10 miles east of Wilmington and less than 70 miles from North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Characterized as a five-mile barrier island, Wrightsville Beach is home to a large number of wildlife, such as loggerhead sea turtles and birds like the American Oyster, Piping Plover and Least Tern. With the wildlife, ocean waters and moderate temperatures, you will find Wrightsville Beach is the perfect place to visit on your next camping trip.

Private Campgrounds

With no campgrounds in Wrightsville Beach, you can find a couple about 10 miles west in Wilmington. Carolina Beach Family Campground and Wilmington KOA Campgrounds both offer full hook-up sites, a swimming pool, hot showers and permit pets.

Outdoor Water Sports

In Wrightsville Beach, you'll find the outdoor water sports are endless. While camping in the Wrightsville area you can stay active while surfing the waves along the shores or kayaking in the marshes. There is also plenty of fishing, boating and jet skiing. If you arrive in the area without the equipment you need, you can visit one of the rental sites in the area.

Tennis and Golf

If you prefer getting your exercise by playing tennis or golf, you will not be disappointed with the courts and the courses in the area. The Wrightsville Beach Parks & Recreation Department has several tennis courts available onsite where you can play with family and friends or take a lesson by one the park's tennis instructors. For a round of golf, you'll have to drive a few miles to Wilmington where there are quite a few courses, such as Beau Rivage Resort & Golf Club, Echo Farms Golf & Country Club and Porters Neck Country Club.

Hiking and Biking

While on your camping trip, you can keep off the vacation pounds by running, jogging or biking. If you're ready for a run, jog or bike ride on a scenic trail then hit the John Nesbitt Loop. This hiking path is nearly two and a half miles long and will take you past the park, marshes and village of Wrightsville Beach.
