Life Fitness, a manufacturer of exercise equipment including home gyms, exercise bicycles and elliptical cross-trainers, offers a line of motorized treadmills. Each model offers an electrical console to customize your workout and track calories burned, the distance traveled and your heart rate. Monitor your heart rate with the wireless chest strap. Some of the issues you may troubleshoot with your Life Fitness treadmill may involve its electrical operation and the chest strap's operation.
Step 1
Turn the "On/Off" switch to "On" if the treadmill has no power. Plug the Life Fitness treadmill into a 15 amp circuit. If neither solution works, contact Life Fitness Customer Support Services for a new line cord.
Step 2
Slow down your running pace if the speed of the striding belt reduces. This is often caused by running faster than the striding belt operates. Check the electrical outlet to verify it is a 15 amp circuit if slowing your pace does not fix the issue.
Step 3
Look underneath the treadmill for foreign objects if you hear a rubbing sound coming from the machine.
Step 4
Inspect all electrical connections for cord tears or loose connections if the display does not illuminate when the machine is turned on.
Step 5
Move all objects from the display console and handlebar if the unit resets or pauses. Plug the treadmill into a 15 amp circuit. Check the connection at the outlet for proper contact. Replace the line cord if no other solutions solve the issue.
Step 6
Moisten the chest strap electrodes slightly if the reading is erratic. Lay the transmitter electrodes flat against your skin. Keep the chest strap transmitter less than three feet from the heart rate receiver.
Step 7
Move the treadmill away from sources of electromagnetic interference such as televisions, computers, cars or high voltage power lines if you experience abnormally high heart rate readings while using the heart rate chest strap.
