Natural Cellular Defense, a concentrated nutritional supplement formed from zeolite, or clinoptilolite, is chemically manufactured by Waiora. As opposed to medications, nutritional supplements do not need approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as of 2010, and Natural Cellular Defense is not scientifically proven to treat or cure any disease. Many health benefits are suggested by Waiora; however, consumers should always consult with a health care professional prior to trying any supplements.
Antioxidant
Waiora claims that Natural Cellular Defense is a potent antioxidant and immune booster. Free radicals are toxins that are the byproduct of broken down substances within the body. In abundance, free radicals can cause heart disease, cancer and other systemic illnesses. Antioxidants are the body's free radical removers; they clean the body at a cellular level.
Chelation
Chelation is the process by which substances are utilized in the body through bonding. However, toxic substances can bond with cells as well, including heavy metals such as lead and aluminum. Heavy metals poison the body and lead to a multitude of health problems, including Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and myriad cardiac diseases. Makers of Natural Cellular Defense propose that this supplement can chelate with these heavy metals, removing them from the body. A 2009 study by Flowers, Lonkey and Deitsch showed removal of 9 heavy metals in subjects' urine after dosing with clinoptilolite, or zeolite, but further studies need to be done to support these claims.
Nitrosamine Absorption
Nitrosamines are found in processed foods, especially processed meats such as hot dogs and cold cuts. Waiora claims that processed meats can increase the risk of certain cancers, such as pancreatic, by up to 68 percent. One benefit of Natural Cellular Defense is the purported removal of these chemicals through absorption in the intestine. Waiora suggests that by removing these toxic chemicals from the body, the instance of cancers will decrease without a dietary regimen change.
