Location
Orange, Texas, sits on the Gulf Coast of Texas just north of Louisiana's Sabine National Wildlife Refuge and Beaumont, Texas, which can be reached in half an hour via US Interstate 10. Head two hours west along US Interstate 10 to reach Houston, or head east to give yourself a day in the bayou near Lake Charles, Louisiana.
RV Accommodations
Your visit to Orange offers limited RV accommodations, but plenty of sites can be found in the surrounding areas. Oak Leaf RV Park features 40 pull-though sites with water, sewer and electric hookups. In nearby Beaumont, stay at Hidden Lake RV Resort, which offers full hookup sites, and 30- and 50-amp electrical and shade-covered sites. East Lucas RV Park features pull-through and back-in sites with both weekly and daily rates available.
Amenities
In addition to the standard site accommodations, East Lucas offers a beautiful rural setting with an abundance of wildlife and shade. Hidden Lake offers you laundry facilities, catch-and-release fishing, nature trails, free Wi-Fi as well as free satellite service. Oak Leaf is basic, but also offers a swimming pool, freshwater fishing, a pond and RV supplies at a convenience store.
Activities
Take time during your stay in Orange to enjoy the Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center, which features 252 acres of beautiful gardens and wildlife. There are more than 300 plant species and a huge population of nesting birds that call Shangri La home, making for a bird watcher's paradise.
Considerations
Make sure to take advantage of the Sabine National Wildlife Refuge just across the border in Louisiana. With over 125,000 acres of marshes and lakes, Sabine offers views of some of the southern United States' most unique and protected wildlife, including large populations of wading and marsh birds. Don't miss the Wetland Walkway while you're there.
