Supercycle training wheels are designed to provide a more stable ride for children learning how to handle a two-wheeler bicycle. Fastened temporarily to the rear axle of your child's bicycle, these small wheels can help prevent the bike from tipping over while your child learns to pedal, steer, brake and balance the bike. Supercycle training wheels are also adjustable to different heights, depending on the type of bike they are on. Installing them requires some simple hand tools and a few minutes of your time. As your child's skills at riding improve, you can eventually remove the training wheels.

Step 1

Insert the training wheel axle bolt through the axle hole in one of the training wheels. Thread one of the training wheel axle nuts onto the axle bolt, leaving enough room left between the nut and the wheel to allow the wheel to turn freely on the axle bolt. Repeat this step with the other wheel, axle bolt and nut.

Step 2

Insert the end of the axle bolt through the small hole in the training wheel arm with the arm facing outward from the wheel. Thread a second axle nut onto the end of the axle bolt. Repeat the step with the other assembled wheel.

Step 3

Place the adjustable wrench on the first axle nut. Hold the adjustable wrench in place and tighten the second axle nut with the socket wrench. Repeat this set with the other training wheel assembly.

Step 4

Remove the bicycle wheel axle nut from one side of the rear wheel of the bike with the socket wrench.

Step 5

Place the small hole in one of the training wheel locking brackets over the axle, with the prongs on the other end of the bracket facing inward.

Step 6

Align the prongs on either side of the chain stay, which extends from the axle drop out to the bottom bracket on the frame of the bike.

Step 7

Place the slotted hole in one of the training wheel arms over the axle and into the locking bracket with the wheel facing outward and resting on the ground. Thread an axle nut onto the bicycle wheel axle until finger tight.

Step 8

Remove the axle bolt from other side of the rear wheel with the socket wrench. Position the other locking bracket and training wheel arm onto that side of the axle. Thread the axle nut onto that axle, finger tight.

Step 9

Slide the training wheel arms up evenly until the training wheels just clear the ground. Tighten the axle bolts with the socket wrench to hold the training wheels in place.
