Fast weight loss does not have to occur through the use of diet pills, and in fact this is generally not recommended. Learning healthful ways to lose weight helps you maintain your ideal weight once you have achieved it. If you use diet pills, however, you are likely to regain the weight once you stop taking the pills.

Wise Choices

Make wise calorie choices. The key to losing weight is to consume fewer calories than you burn throughout the day, notes the Mayo Clinic. Burning more calories than you take in each day can be challenging to accomplish; so you should pay close attention to the caloric content of the foods you eat and drink.

Don't Drink

You can easily consume liquid calories in large quantities without even noticing. According to the website HelpGuide, soft drinks account for 7 percent of the calories in the American diet. Therefore, to lose weight quickly, you need to cut all high-calorie beverages from your diet. These include alcoholic drinks, sugary sodas and sports drinks, high-fat milk, juices and coffee-blended drinks.

Do Drink

Drink only water or no-calorie drinks, such as unsweetened iced tea and other diet beverages. These drinks provide a zero-calorie substitute. In addition, water aids in weight loss, helping you feel fuller longer and breaking down everything you eat more efficiently.

Fiber

Add foods that contain high amounts of fiber to your diet. These foods provide you with increased energy levels and help you feel full longer. Also fiber helps your body quickly digest the foods you eat. Snack on foods high in fiber, such as berries, whole grains and broccoli. Include a high-fiber source at every meal.

Avoid Binging

If you wait too long to eat and do not begin eating until you are really hungry, you increase the risk that you will eat too much. This is why snacking is important. Healthful snacking throughout the day keeps your metabolism up and helps you stop yourself from overeating at mealtimes.

Reduce Salt

High levels of salt cause your body to retain extra water. Cutting down your salt intake results in your body shedding water weight.

Strength

Engage in strength-training exercises three days a week for at least 20 minutes a session to help promote muscle development. Muscles allow your body to burn calories more efficiently and in higher quantities, reports the Mayo Clinic. This means that the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn all the time when compared with someone who has less muscle mass.

Aerobic

Get involved in aerobic exercise routines to induce faster weight loss, because physical activity burns more calories than sitting still. The more calories you want to burn, the more intense your exercise routine should be. Running and swimming are considered to be intense forms of exercise that result in high calorie burns. You should commit to at least 45 minutes of aerobic exercise five days a week.
