Testosterone is a hormone usually associated with men. It is produced in the testicles and responsible for various male features, including muscularity, deep voice and facial hair. Women also have testosterone, although in much lower levels. In women, testosterone is made in the ovaries and adrenal glands. Sometimes, testosterone levels in women will rise, resulting in a host of possible symptoms. Consult your physician if you have any symptoms of high testosterone.

Excess Hair Growth

If you have excess body hair growth, also known as hirsutism, you may have increased testosterone levels. The extra growth usually appears on the face, under the lip or chin, on the chest, nipples or lower abdomen. The hairs are typically coarser and often darker than other body hair.

Acne

Acne breakouts are common side effects of high testosterone levels in women. If you have no real history of acne and you develop bemishes on the face, chest and back, it can be a sign your testorone levels are elevated.

Aggression

Testosterone is the hormone most commonly associated with higher aggression levels in males. Normal levels of testosterone in women can increase confidence and sex drive, but when levels are high, you may experience aggressive thoughts and feelings, agitation and anger, which may even lead to depression.

Hair Loss

Male pattern baldness typically manifests in the horseshoe pattern around a man's head, with thinning or no hair on the top. Male pattern baldness can also affect some women with high testosterone levels, according to NaturalHormones.net. The condition is known as androgenic alopecia, and in severe cases, you may have the same type of hair loss seen in males.

Excess Perspiration

Sweating is typically a by-product of physical exertion, but if testosterone levels are higher than normal, you may perspire when doing nothing at all.

Changing Body Shape

If you have high levels of testosterone in your body and do not seek treatment, over time your body may begin to change. Muscle mass can increase, body fat can be redistributed, and the clitoris may become enlarged, says NaturalHormones.net.
