Acne scars occur for a variety of reasons. Most commonly, though, scars appear because the original pimple was picked, squeezed or popped. Scars may also appear if the pimple is very large and swells to the point that it severely disrupts the skin. After a few months or years, the scars look like pits or discolored circles. While laser treatment, peels and other chemical treatments may be effective in reducing the scar's appearance, some prefer to take a more natural route first. However, it's best to consult your doctor before treating yourself with home remedies.

Lemon Juice

Step 1

Rinse your face with warm water and gently towel dry.

Step 2

Cut a lemon in half and squeeze the juice out into a small bowl.

Step 3

Dip a cotton ball into the lemon juice, allowing the cotton to absorb as much lemon juice as possible.

Step 4

Gently rub the soaked cotton ball onto the affected area of your face.

Step 5

Let it set for 10 minutes and then rinse your face with warm water and gently pat dry with a clean towel. Because lemon juice is high in acidity, it works as a natural bleaching element for your scars. Repeat once a day, every day.

Tea Tree Oil

Step 1

Clean your face with a mild face wash and then gently towel dry.

Step 2

Apply a thin layer of tea tree oil onto the affected area with either a clean towel or cotton ball.

Step 3

Massage the oil into the skin and allow it to set for 30 minutes.

Step 4

Rinse with warm water and gently pat dry. This nourishes and hydrates your skin. Repeat once a day, preferably before bed.
