Signs of Balding in Men

Hair loss can be a hard thing to deal with when it appears. Self-esteem and confidence can both be compromised, especially when it starts happening at a young age, which is common. According to the Hair Loss Learning Center, approximately 35 million men in the United States have hair loss, 40% of whom start losing their hair before they are 35 years old. Balding can be seen by recognizing the signs.

Temples

In male pattern hair loss, also called androgenetic alopecia, there is a specific pattern that hair loss follows. A sign of this would be a receding hairline that becomes prominent in the areas of the temples. You can also look into a large mirror with a hand held mirror in your hand. Inspect the top of your head for a balding area. The hair will appear thin in this area or there will be a bald spot already.

Drain

When you take a shower and wash your hair, you can find hair in the drain after you are done. This can also take place in the drain of a sink if you wash your hair there.

Temperature

The more hair you lose, the less protection you are going to have on your head from the elements. When you come in from being out in the sun for a while, you will notice that the top of your head can become sunburned easily. You can also experience a similar reaction when you walk outside without a hat on in the winter. Except this time, your head can experience a cold feeling.

Locations

Hair falls out naturally as a part of the hair growing cycle. But when you are going bald, higher volumes fall out and you can find hair in areas that you stay in for long periods of time. Your car seat, your bed and a lounge chair that you sit in often are examples of these places. You can also find more hair than usual in your clothes and in hats that you wear regularly.

Sibings

When heredity is the cause of balding, you can determine this by looking at your father, uncles or brothers to see if they are bald. If they are, this is a sign that you may be balding as well.
