Nutritional Reviews notes how this may be down to the content of ephedrine, which totals 2 percent of the herb's weight, although they go on to explain that a dearth of evidence currently exists to support the use of the herb as a aid in burning fat.
Yohimbe
Yohimbe has featured in many traditional recipes for fat burning, increased energy and improving sexual performance. The herb, normally provided by supplement manufacturers in the form of yohimbine hydrochloride, acts as an alpha-antagonist; alpha receptors, present at every fat cell, typically slow down the rate of fat burning as a way of protecting your energy stores. Muscle Science explains that men have a high density of alpha receptors around the abdomen and women around the buttocks and thighs; the use of yohimbe may help break down stubborn fat residing in these areas.
