A Review of the Rare Minerals Moisturizer

RareMinerals is a collection of skin care products manufactured by BareEscentuals, the company that introduced bareMinerals cosmetics via QVC in 1995. The moisturizer included in the RareMinerals collection is called Purely Nourishing Facial Moisturizer.

Purpose

When used twice daily, Purely Nourishing Facial Moisturizer is designed to help the skin better take in and hold moisture so that it appears "plumper, firmer, brighter and healthier-looking," according to BareEscentuals. The product is intended to hydrate without leaving an oily or greasy residue on the skin.

Key Ingredients

What sets the RareMinerals collection apart from other BareEscentuals products is the ActiveSoil Complex. In the RareMinerals moisturizer, the complex is added via mineral electrolytes, which the company says use ions to help the skin retain moisture.

Cost and Availability

Purely Nourishing Facial Moisturizer comes as part of a set, along with RareMinerals Renew & Reveal Facial Cleanser and Moisture Burst Facial Mist. As of September 2010, the set sells for $35 on the BareEscentuals website, but the products are also available separately via other retailers including Amazon and Sephora. The set includes only a 1-oz. supply, but the individually sold moisturizer comes in a 1.7-oz. container and sells for $23.50 to $28.
