Ohio State Park campgrounds have campsites available in 56 different state parks. Campers can either tent camp or bring in a camper. Each site is equipped with a cement pad for parking or placing a camper, a picnic table, fire ring, and a grassy area. Some sites are equipped with electrical, water and sewer hook ups. Visitors are welcome to stay at a campsite for up to fourteen days at a time within a one month period.

Reservations

Reservations are not required to be able to camp at an Ohio State Park campground, however if you would like to ensure you have a camping site you may call and make a reservation. Otherwise, campsites are assigned to the first camper to arrive. The only exception to this is for the equestrian campsites which require reservations to be used.

Activities

Visitors to the Ohio state Campgrounds will find many activities available. Playgrounds are kept groomed for smaller campers. However, the playgrounds are unsupervised and parents are responsible for keeping their children safe on the playground equipment. Many of the state parks have mini golf courses to challenge the putting skill of campers. Basketball and volleyball courts are also available. For those who want to get away from camp each of the state campground parks have several hiking trails that can be explored as well.

Theme Camping

Ohio State Park campgrounds offer theme campout events. During these theme campouts events are provided for campers to be involved in. Depending on the theme of the campout there may be crafts, contests, or entertainment. Every theme campout includes food and the opportunity for campers to share their favorite camping dishes with other campers.

Pets

Pets, such as domestic dogs and cats, are welcome at all Ohio State Camps. However, there are some specific sites where pets are not allowed. If bringing a pet with you to the state park visit with a park ranger to make sure you choose a site that is designated for pets. Pets must remain on a leash at all times and must be wearing current rabies and ID tags while in the park. Owners may bring their pet with them on hiking trails but the pet must remain on a leash. No more than two pets are allowed to be present at a campsite at any given time. This includes the pets of visitors as well.

Equestrian Camping

Several of the Ohio State Parks offer the availability of equestrian camping. These facilities do require reservation though and should be booked well in advance. The equestrian camps are usually located in a less used area of the state park to prevent the horses from being spooked by the activity of the other campers. If electrical hookups are required for a camper, this should be specified when reserving an equestrian campsite as only a few of the equestrian sites have electrical connection. There are no sewer connections. Every equestrian site has an outhouse and primitive facilities available for those who are tenting.
