If you ate five to nine portions of fresh fruits and vegetables daily, you would provide your body with the required nutrients for good health and disease prevention. However, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in 2009, 67.5 percent of adults ate fruit less than twice a day. When it comes to vegetables, we're even worse: 73.7 percent ate vegetables less than three times daily, the CDC reports. Juicing your fruits and vegetables is a simple way of consuming plenty of vitamins and minerals without eating the fruit, and according to "Juice Lady" Cherie Calbom, drinking fresh juice will help facilitate weight loss.

Weight Loss Express

Nutritionist Cherie Calbom recommends several recipes for weight loss in her book "The Juice Lady's juicing for High Level Wellness and Vibrant Good Looks." Cherie recommends combining fruits with vegetable juices to lessen the possibility of spiking blood sugar levels, or diluting juices only made from fruits with water.

The Weight Loss Express recipe contains ginger, which is thermogenic and helps the body produce heat and therefore burn calories. The recipe also contains parsley and cucumbers, which are natural diuretics and can help reduce water retention.

The ingredients are half a cucumber, half a large pippen or Granny Smith apple, four or five scrubbed, topped carrots, a handful of parsley, half a lemon and a 1-inch piece of ginger.

Weight Loss Buddy

Calbom reports that Jerusalem artichoke juice, when combined with carrot and beet, is a traditional natural remedy for combating cravings for sweets and sugary foods. To make this juice you will need one small scrubbed Jerusalem artichoke, four medium scrubbed and topped carrots and half a beet, that has been scrubbed with the top removed.

Watermelon Refresher

Calbon recommends the Watermelon Refresher for weight loss, as she states that watermelon is considered a natural diuretic. Calbon says to jiuce the rind and seeds: the rind contains chlorophyll, which helps to purify the blood and the seeds have diuretic properties.

To make this juice, take a watermelon and cut into pieces that will fit into your juicer's feed tube. Add a little water if desired.

Juice Master's Turbo Express

Jason Vale, author of the book "Lose 7 lbs. in 7 Days" recommends the Juice Master's Turbo Express recipe to aid weight loss. Jason says the juice is rich in potassium, iron and vitamin C, which will help to boost the immune system and rebuild red blood cells while also reducing high blood pressure. He claims the juice can help kidney problems and acts as a diuretic.

To make the Juice Master's Turbo Express, you will need to juice a chunk of fresh pineapple, an apple, half a stick of celery, an inch of cucumber, a handful and fresh spinach and a piece of peeled lime. Pour the juice into a blender, add some ice and half a small avocado for some healthy monounsaturated fatty acids.
