Young Living Essential Oils is a Utah-based company that sells essential oils and essential oil blends, nutritional supplements, skin- and oral-care products and household cleaners. Young Living offers several therapeutic-grade essential oils and essential oil blends designed to help ease anxiety. You can either sniff these scents directly from the bottle or add to a diffuser. Because certain essential oils can irritate skin, mix with a carrier oil, such as almond or coconut oil, before applying on your body or adding to your bath.
Lavender
One of the most popular scents for calming the mind and enabling sleep, lavender has balancing properties that can both relax and energize you. Lavender essential oil, according to the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy, can also soothe minor burns, moisturize skin and minimize the appearance of scars. It is one of the few essential oils considered safe to apply directly to skin.
Tranquil
Young Living's Tranquil blend of lavender, cedarwood and Roman chamomile essential oils and coconut oil comes in a small roll-on bottle that you can carry along with you. In addition to lavender's balancing and calming properties, cedarwood's high level of sesquiterpenes helps calm the mind, and the Roman chamomile has a relaxing effect. The coconut oil serves as a base oil, which makes it safe to apply to skin. Apply Tranquil to temples, neck and wrists when you want to feel calmer.
Peace & Calming
Meant to promote relaxation, Peace & Calming blends uplifting tangerine, orange, ylang-ylang, patchouli and blue tansy. The color is blue because of the blue tansy. Use Peace & Calming in a diffuser or mix with almond oil, and apply to the bottoms of your feet and the back of your neck. Because citrus oils may cause skin sensitivity, avoid direct sunlight after application.
Geranium
Geranium essential oil has an uplifting and balancing effect on the nervous system. Dilute with a carrier oil before applying to skin.
Stress Relievers
Other Young Living blends that may help relieve anxiety include Stress Away, a roll-on mix of copaiba, lime, cedarwood, vanilla, ocotea and lavender oils; Valor, an empowering combination of spruce, rosewood, blue tansy, frankincense and almond oils; and White Angelica, a soothing blend of bergamot, geranium, myrrh, sandalwood, rosewood, ylang-ylang, spruce, hyssop, melissa, rose and almond oils.
Considerations
Avoid using these essential oils if you are pregnant. Read the label carefully for correct usage. Use a carrier oil if applying directly to your skin or in your bathtub.
