Since its 1961 debut, Quaker's Life cereal has become a classic of the breakfast foods aisle. Whether soaked with milk or eaten straight out of the box, Life's cross-hatched wheat squares deliver crunch and sweetness while also providing B vitamins and other important nutrients.

Calories, Fat and Cholesterol

A 3/4 cup serving of Life contains 120 calories when dry and 160 calories when paired with 1/2 cup of skim milk. The dry cereal contains 1-1/2 g of fat, just 2 percent of your recommended daily value of fat. It also contains 0 mg of cholesterol.

Carbohydrates, Fiber and Protein

A 3/4 cup serving of original Life cereal has 25 g of carbohydrates, 6 g of which are from sugars. Just 2 g are from dietary fiber. In total, a 3/4 cup portion of Life delivers 8 percent of your recommended daily value of both carbohydrates and fiber. It also provides 3 g of protein, which is 6 percent of the daily value.

Vitamins

Although lacking vitamins A and C, Life cereal is rich in other vitamins. A 3/4 cup serving of the dry cereal contains 25 percent of your recommended daily value of thiamin, riboflavin, niacin and vitamin B-6. It also delivers 60 percent of your daily value of folic acid.

Minerals

A serving of Life cereal has 7 percent of your recommended daily value of sodium and just 3 percent of potassium. It's high in iron, with 45 percent of your daily value, but contains just 10 percent of calcium and phosphorus. It also delivers 25 percent of zinc.

Other Varieties

Life cereal also comes in two other varieties, Cinnamon, and Maple & Brown Sugar. While containing the same number of calories and grams of fat as the original flavor, the cinnamon variety is higher in sugars and folic acid but lower in sodium and potassium. The Maple & Brown Sugar flavor also has more sugars and folic acid but less sodium and potassium. This variety also has more iron.
