You need to replace your Weslo treadmill belt every two to three years, depending on how often you use it. If you only walk on your treadmill for an hour a day, the lifespan of your treadmill belt could extend past three years, but if you run long distances on your treadmill belt, expect a life span closer to two years. Recruit a partner to help replace your treadmill belt, as some tasks require four hands.

Step 1

Turn the Weslo treadmill off and unplug it from the wall outlet. Remove the motor hood located at the front of the walking deck and directly under the control console. The motor hood secures to the treadmill with six screws, two on the left of the cover, two on the right and two on the front.

Step 2

Make a mark with a felt-tip pen to identify where the front roller is positioned on the front roller adjustment bolt. The front roller adjustment bolt is located at the right front of the treadmill deck. Pull the rear end cap from the end of the treadmill deck to expose the rear roller. Make a mark to identify where the rear roller adjustment bolts are positioned on the rear roller.

Step 3

Insert an Allen wrench into the rear roller adjustment bolts and turn both bolts counterclockwise to loosen the walking belt on the treadmill. Insert the Allen wrench into the front roller adjustment bolt and remove it by turning it counterclockwise.

Step 4

Remove the left and right foot rails to expose the six platform screws. The foot rails should snap off but you may need to loosen them with a slotted screwdriver. Remove the three platform screws from the left platform and the three platform screws from the right.

Step 5

Remove both rear roller adjustment bolts from the treadmill. Lift the walking deck while holding the front roller securely to the pulley at the front left of the walking deck. Have a partner slide the old treadmill belt from your Weslo treadmill.

Step 6

Continue to hold the deck in the raised position while a partner installs the new treadmill belt. Confirm that the new treadmill belt is centered between the belt guides underneath the deck. Lower the treadmill belt and deck onto the treadmill frame.

Step 7

Replace the rear roller adjustment bolts into the rear roller but do not tighten. Replace the six platform screws and tighten them. Replace the front roller adjustment bolt, turning it with the Allen wrench until it reaches the position you marked on the bolt in Step 2.

Step 8

Snap the foot rails back onto the left and right sides of the deck. Tighten the walking belt by turning the rear roller adjustment bolts until you reach the position you marked on the bolts in Step 2. Push the rear end cap onto the deck of the treadmill.

Step 9

Check that you have placed the proper tension on the Weslo treadmill belt by attempting to lift the belt on both sides of the deck. Proper tension of the belt will only allow you to lift the belt 2 to 3 inches.

Step 10

Plug the treadmill power cord and back into the wall receptacle. Set the speed on the treadmill to 3 to 5 miles per hour. Carefully walk on the treadmill belt to check for slipping and sticking. If the belt slips, you need to tighten it by inserting an Allen wrench into the rear adjustment bolts and turning each bolt one quarter turn to the right until you reach the proper tension. If the belt sticks, you need to loosen it by inserting an Allen wrench to the rear adjustment bolts and turn each bolt one quarter turn to the left.

Step 11

Replace the motor hood on the Weslo treadmill.
