With more than 200 golf courses scattered across the state and mild summers, the state of Connecticut is a golfer's paradise. For families that are looking to improve upon their golf game together, several locations offer family golf lessons. These golf schools will help the whole family improve on swing mechanics, approach and grip.

Timing

Connecticut features moderate temperature summers and cold winters. Because of this, the golf schools in Connecticut are limited to the spring, summer and fall. Several of these golf schools offer single-day courses or multiple-day programs. Most of the programs are designed to teach small groups of golfers together, ideal for the family learning to golf.

Cost

The costs of the golf schools across Connecticut range depending on features and length. At the Rockledge Golf Club in West Hartford, the PGA professional golf staff offers lessons for families during the spring and the summer. As of 2010, these private family lessons cost $45 per individual per half an hour. At the Copper Hill Golf Academy, lesson costs depend upon the student-to-instructor ratio and the length of the lesson. At the Lake of Isles Golf School, there are one-, two- and three-day family golf lessons offered at various rates.

Considerations

As with any sport, warming up prior to your lesson can help you avoid injury. According to the Mayo Clinic, stretching can promote a more fluid and stronger golf swing. Ten minutes of walking is recommended prior to stretching. Pelvic, hips and shoulder stretches should be held for 10 seconds and repeated three to five times prior to lessons.

Copper Hill Golf Academy

At Copper Gill Golf Academy in East Granby, Connecticut, families can participate in golf lessons together. This academy offers semi-private lessons for two people, mini groups for three to four people or group lessons for families of five to eight people. During these lessons, a PGA professional will instruct the golfers. The lessons will include high-speed video evaluation of shots, individual golf instruction and club fitting. Golfers will practice on the 3,500-square foot chipping and pitching green with bunker.

Hank Hanley Golf Academy

At the Hank Hanley Golf Academy, families can take golf lessons together. This group instruction is available for families as small as three people. Classes last between one to three hours. In the classes, a Golf Academy PGA Professional will help students advance their game of golf. During the lesson, individuals will be given instruction on putting, chipping and the full swing.
