Herbs are plants used in cooking, in teas, as dietary supplements, and for therapeutic and medicinal purposes. Herbs are used in many forms, including pills, powders, extracts, decoctions and tinctures. The use of herbs for medicinal purposes is an ancient practice. While herbs are a natural product, they have different levels of potency, and oils or extracts made from herbs can be toxic. Peppermint

Dandelion

Dandelion is believed by some cultures to treat serious diseases of the liver, kidneys and respiratory system. In Europe and Germany, dandelion is a popular remedy for gastrointestinal problems. Native Americans used dandelion for upset stomach and heartburn. Dandelion tea can cause rare side effects such as diarrhea and contact dermatitis, according to MedlinePlus.

Blessed Thistle

The leaves, flowers and stems of blessed thistle are used to prepare tonics that are taken orally to improve appetite and alleviate indigestion. Blessed thistle is also known as bitter thistle, holy thistle and spotted thistle.
