As you age, fine lines and wrinkles begin to develop. As part of the process, collagen production decreases causing skin to droop. Since the forehead area is one of the most prominent areas for lines and wrinkles, Botox and other tissue fillers are commonly used. However, these are expensive, require recovery time and must be done regularly to see results. There are several ways to get rid of forehead wrinkles without Botox.
Step 1
Use non invasive laser resurfacing smooth out forehead wrinkles. Ever since the Food and Drug Administration approved it to treat wrinkles, it is one of the most popular treatments on the market. They work because a beam is scanned over wrinkles and lines, removing outer skin layers and allowing new skin to emerge. Lasers also promote collagen production, so they work internally and externally.
Step 2
Schedule an appointment with a dermatologist for a dermabrasion treatment. This method resurfaces the outer layers of your skin using a wire brush to abrade the damaged surface layers. Once the top layers of skin are sloughed way, you develop newer, smoother skin. Dermabrasion is usually done one time and it takes two to three weeks for skin to recover. You may experience redness and irritation immediately after treatment and your doctor may prescribe antibiotics to avoid infection.
Step 3
Use a chemical peel to remove forehead skin wrinkles. These work by burning off surface skin layers using glycolic and salicylic acid. Redness and irritation are common side effects, but can be soothed with an over the counter or prescription topical cream. Depending on the severity of forehead wrinkles, you may need several peels to achieve best results.
Step 4
Visit a plastic surgeon to get a face lift. This procedure produces the most dramatic results and is more expensive than the aforementioned techniques. However, results last up to a decade. A surgeon removes excess skin from your face and neck to for a tighter, firmer appearance. Face lifts must only be done one time and results are immediately visible. Ask a cosmetic surgeon to about the risks and benefits associated with this procedure.
