Grantsville is in northcentral Maryland, just north of the Savage River State Forest and just south of the Casselman Bridge State Park. RV Parks
The New Germany State Park in Grantsville does offer a place to park your RV; however, there are no hookups on the site. Pets are allowed in certain areas, and campers have their choice of several outdoor recreational activities. About 15 miles southwest of Grantsville, the Double G RV Park in McHenry features full hook-ups with 30-, and 50-amp electric, as well as cable television access and picnic tables. Pets are welcome. The Pioneer Park Campground is about 28 miles north of Grantsville, in Somerset Pennsylvania, in the foothills of the Laurel Ridge Mountains. The 185-acre area offers RV sites with full hookups, three stocked lakes, and another lake for paddle boating and children's fishing. Also onsite are a swimming pool, basketball, tennis, and volleyball courts, laundry facilities, and a camping and grocery store.
New Germany State Park
RV parks within the New Germany State Park are near a 13-acre lake, where guests can swim, paddle, and fish for bass, catfish, trout and bluegill. The park also boasts 10 miles of trails for biking, hiking, horseback riding, skiing and snowshoeing.
Casselman River Bridge State Park
The Casselman River Bridge State Park is a four-acre park which features the Casselman River, a popular spot for fly-fishing. The park's stone arch bridge is a historical relic and now serves as part of a walking trail.
Wisp Resort
Guests at the Double G RV Park are within minutes of the 132-acre Wisp Resort which features skiing, golfing, fishing and a mountain coaster ride. The golf course offers 18 holes and 6,700 yards of golf for a par of 72. Watersports include waterskiing, wakeboarding, tubing and whitewater rafting.
Savage River State Forest
RV campers in Grantsville can travel about 20 miles south to the Savage River State Forest which spans over 54,000 acres of mixed hardwoods. Here you can hike and bike along miles of trails, fish, white-water canoe, and hunt. The winter months are good for skiing and snowmobiling. Primitive (no hookups or amenities) RV sites are also available at this forest.
