Wildwood Crest is one three towns on the Wildwoods barrier island in New Jersey. The island is five miles long and offers beaches, amusement park, water parks, the Wildwoods Boardwalk and plenty of activities for the entire family. Although there is no camping right in the Wildwoods, RV parks are located in nearby Cape May, minutes from all of the action.
Parks
A few of the parks available near Wildwood Crest include Holly Shores Campground, Seashore Campsites and the Depot Travel Park, all in Cape May. All three offer full hookups with daily and weekly rates. Seashore and Depot Travel have monthly rates and Holly Shores offers limited seasonal camping for those interested in an extended vacation.
Amenities
Holly Shores and Seashore have heated pools, kiddie pools, modern bath houses with restrooms, camp stores and laundry facilities. Holly Shores also features wireless Internet, a hot tub, a dog park, a snack bar and an air-conditioned arcade. To maintain a family-friendly park, quiet hours are from 11:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. with a 10:30 curfew for children and teens. Seashore has a filtered lake with a beach, lighted tennis and basketball courts and miniature golf. Depot Travel provides free wireless Internet in certain locations and comfort stations. Holly Shores and Seashore have activity directors on site during the summer season to provide activities for children as well as the adults. All three parks have playgrounds for the little ones and are pet-friendly.
Extras
Holly Shores rents trailers, activity equipment, golf carts, fishing gear and kayaks. Three fresh water wakes are located within walking distance of the campground. Free food events occur periodically and the park entry gate is card controlled for security. Depot Travel has an air-conditioned 35-foot RV that guests may rent by the week. The park provides dishes and glasses, and guests need only bring their own linens and towels. Depot Travel's vegetable stand is independently owned at the campground's entrance, and also sells bread, milk and other staples.
Activities
Activities in and around the RV parks include swimming, boating, lake and ocean fishing and crabbing, a wide variety of water sports, horseback riding, golf, biking, picnicking, shuffleboard, whale- and dolphin-watching trips, horseshoes, basketball and tennis. Seashore's planned activities include a daily wagon ride, children's movies, crafts, dances, games, water aerobics and visits to area attractions.
Attractions
Area attractions include all of the fun and excitement of the Wildwoods, plus Victorian Cape May, Point Lighthouse and Park, Cape May/Lewes Ferry, Cape May County Park and Zoo, the Wetlands Institute, Stone Harbor Bird Sanctuary, Cape May Winery and a huge selection of restaurants.
Rates
Daily campsite rates range from about $25 to $60 (as of 2010) and weekly from about $170 to $400, depending on the site and the season. Monthly rate run from about $1,300 to $1,500.
