Lacrosse is one of the oldest sports in North America. It is a game that features skillful passing and catching of a hard rubber lacrosse ball, and it features shooting that can be direct line drive throws, bounce shots or rebounds. The game can be played outdoors by men, outdoors by women and there is also an indoor game. The official size of the goal differs by type of game.

Men's Lacrosse

Professional, college and high school men play lacrosse on a field that is 110 yards long by 60 yards wide. The goals are centered on the field, 15 yards from either end line. The goal in mens' lacrosse is 6 feet tall and 6 feet wide. The goals have a depth of 6 feet. The goaltender protects the goals with a stick that measures between 40 and 72 inches and has a width of 12 inches at the head.

Women's Lacrosse

In womens' lacrosse, the players use the same size goal as the mens' game. The goal is placed 15 yards from the end line on both sides of the field and the goals are placed in the center of the field. The goals are six feet wide by six feet high with a depth of six feet as well. According to the US Lacrosse Womens' Division, the womens' lacrosse field does not have a uniform size. The field should be between 110 and 140 yards long and 60 to 70 yards wide

Box Lacrosse

Box lacrosse is an indoor version of the sport that is often played on a field that is the same size as an ice hockey sheet. The field is 200 feet long by 85 feet wide. Players in box lacrosse shoot at a much smaller goal than the ones used in the outdoor game. The box lacrosse goal is 4 feet high by 4 feet wide and 4 feet deep.
