Mohawk, Tennessee, is in East Tennessee in Greene County off I-81 between Morristown and Greeneville, Tenn. Although a small population of just over 3,000, Mohawk has much to offer in natural beauty, making it a camping destination.

Mohawk is home to two ponds, Scruggs Pond and Easterly Pond, and more than seven streams, rivers and creeks. The campground is minutes away from the Great Smoky Mountains, Gatlinburg, and Dollywood--all Tennessee and national favorites. More campgrounds are in the surrounding area. Mohawk is 52 minutes from Douglas Lake, 53 minutes from Cherokee Lake, and one hour from Cherokee National Forest.
Planning
Although Banks Farms Campground has a store with camping, picnic, and fishing supplies, some items that you could include on your list include a can opener, multi-purpose knife, biodegradable soap and toilet paper, compass and maps.
Recreation Requirements for Tennessee
If you plan on fishing there or on the beautiful lakes mentioned above, you must show a state fishing license. There are also special requirements for hunting and boating.
According to the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency, fishing licenses go on sale February 18 of each year and are valid through the end of February the following year. There are several types of fishing licenses, with varying costs for each, such as resident, non-resident, and special permits, like trout fishing permits for Gatlinburg, Tenn. Hunting privileges require similar licenses, whereas boating requires a TWRA Safety Boating Education Certificate from residents born after January 1, 1989.
Weather Considerations
Although Mohawk, Tennessee temperatures are mild June through September with an average high of 74 degrees and an average low of 64, the humidity is high in the mornings for these same months, averaging 80 to 92 percent. In the afternoons the humidity drops to 60 percent or below. The chance of precipitation is high for May, June, and July, with a possibility of four inches or more, but then drops steadily for August, September, and October. The chance of snow is high only for the months of January through March and November through December.
