According to Consumer Reports.org, you can change up to 2000 diapers in your baby's first year. Protect your back by choosing a changing table that allows you to stand comfortably while changing all those diapers. Wall-mounted changing tables can be something other than the hard plastic types you find in a shopping mall bathroom. They are available in natural woods and brightly colored plastics. Install a changing table on the wall to save space in your baby's room.
Wall Stud Installation
Step 1
Locate the wall studs by running a stud finder over the wall. Mark the locations of the studs with painter's tape on the wall so you do not place marks on it. Standard house construction wall studs are located every 16 inches on center behind the drywall.
Step 2
Mark the first mounting hole 59 inches up from the floor onto the wall. Mark the second mounting hole 16 inches directly to the right of the first hole. Use a level to confirm that both holes are even. Mark the third and fourth mounting holes 22-3/4 inches below the top holes on the same studs.
Step 3
Drill pilot holes at all four mounting locations using 1/8 inch wood drill bit.
Step 4
Mount the changing table on the wall with the four 1/4 by 3-inch pan head tapping screws provided with the changing table.
Masonry Wall
Step 1
Measure up from the floor 59 inches and mark the first mounting hole location onto a masonry wall. Measure 16 inches to the right of the first mounting hole location and mark the second mounting hole. Use a level to confirm that both holes are even for a level changing table.
Step 2
Drill pilot holes using a 7/32-inch masonry drill bit.
Step 3
Mount the changing table using the 1/4 by 3-inch masonry screws provided with the changing table.
