Archery is a healthy, family-friendly activity both for sport and recreation. Joining an Oklahoma archery club gives you access to practice ranges, competitions and educational opportunities to improve your shooting. Archery clubs exist across the state and serve as a great way to enjoy the Oklahoma outdoors. Every club has a similar mission, to advocate and promote the sport of archery in Oklahoma.
Tulsa Archery Association
The Tulsa Archery Association (TAA) used 40 wooded acres just outside of Tulsa in Sperry, Oklahoma, to start this club in 1956. The property includes a clubhouse, 3D ranges, a field range, tree stand areas and an indoor range. The TAA promotes a family-type atmosphere and hosts tournaments, leagues and special events for members and guests throughout the year. Membership is charged annually per household.
Oklahoma City Gun Club Archery Division
This Oklahoma City club is a member of the Oklahoma Bowhunting Council, an organization that promotes the sport and fights to protect bowhunters' rights across the state. Members of the Archery Division are also members of the Oklahoma City Gun Club (OKCGC). The OKCGC Archery Division focuses on archery competition for all age groups and skill levels, and it holds several events throughout the year. Members pay reduced fees per shoot, and competitions follow Archery Shooters Association (ASA) Pro-Am rules as a guideline.
Trosper Archery Club
The Trosper Archery Club, also based in Oklahoma City, is a nonprofit organization established in 1949. The club hosts leagues, tournaments and expos on its range, which includes practice targets, a target range, a 3-D course and a 14-target field course. It also established a National Archery Association-certified Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) Club to promote youth archery. The JOAD program gives boys and girls under age 18 opportunities to learn to shoot and win awards. Both individual and family annual memberships are available for the Trosper Archery Club.
Oklahoma State Archery Association
The Oklahoma State Archery Association (OSAA) is an organization dedicated to all of Oklahoma's archers and bowhunters. The OSAA sponsors several events, tournaments and shoots at different ranges throughout the state, ending with a state meeting and awards banquet at the end of the year. Its main mission, as a National Field Archery Association (NFAA) affiliate, is to support and promote the sport of archery in Oklahoma. Each year, the OSAA chooses elite members to induct into its Hall of Fame. The OSAA offers annual individual, youth and family memberships.
Smaller Clubs
Not all Oklahoma archery clubs have a website with large memberships and facilities, but that doesn't mean your area lacks a club. Small ranges and clubs are spread throughout the state, and archery and hunting pro shops often maintain their own ranges. Smaller clubs include Bartlesville's Bartlesville Archery Club and Osage Archers, Ponca City's Ponca Bowmen, the Wagoner Archers in Wagoner and the Salt Fork Bow Hunters in Cherokee (see Resource section). Archery is a social sport and a great way to get to know your community.
