The Miracle Lemonade Enzyme Diet, sometimes known as The Master Cleanse, is a detoxification plan that uses a 10-day liquid diet. The theory behind detox diets is they remove toxins built up in the body to promote health and weight loss. MayoClinic.com warns this is a highly unproven method and may lead to other problems, such as dehydration and fatigue. The Miracle Lemonade Enyme Diet uses lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper and water to create a drink that may stimulate digestion and improve waste elimination.
Step 1
Squeeze fresh lemons with a juicer. Use enough lemons to produce 2 tbsp. of juice for every glass. If you make the drink by the pitcher, one glass is 10 oz. of liquid. Calculate how many glasses are in your pitcher and multiply that number by 2. For example, if your pitcher holds 10 glasses, you need 20 tbsp. of fresh lemon juice. The Wolfe Clinic recommends you purchase organic lemons if possible. If necessary, pour 10 oz. glasses of water into the pitcher until it is full for an accurate count of glasses per pitcher.
Step 2
Fill a glass or pitcher with vitalized water if available. Vitalized water goes through a special treatment to remove sediment. If you do not have access to vitalized water, use bottled or distilled water. Each individual glass should hold 10 oz. of water.
Step 3
Add 1 tsp. to 1 tbsp. pure grade B organic maple syrup and 1/8 tsp. African cayenne pepper to the water and stir thoroughly. Calculate the proper portions if making a batch of lemonade. Figure out how many glasses in your pitcher and multiply the single serving size by that number. For instances, if your pitcher holds 10 glasses, add up to 10 tablespoons of maple syrup to the water.
Step 4
Drink at least eight glasses of the lemonade a day. The Wolfe Clinic formulates the dosage based on weight. If you weight is <150 lbs., drink six to eight glasses. If you weigh more, drink between 8 to 10 glasses daily. Drink one glass at least every one to two hours.
Step 5
Increase the African cayenne pepper dosage a small amount daily. For example, use a pinch the first day, or approximately 1/8 tsp., and a pinch and a half the second.
Step 6
Fast during the cleansing period. This will be up to 10 days. Include at least three to four rest breaks a day. Lie down for five minutes to allow your body to relax. If you feel tired, increase the resting times.
Tips and Warnings
- Many of the lemonade master cleanse programs suggest you take some form of laxative to aid the process, preferably a natural product, such as a high-fiber drink. You might consider taking a multivitamin during the fasting period. This plan does not provide enough nutrition, so a vitamin supplement may help.
- If you feel weak, dizzy or faint, discontinue the diet. Talk to a medical professional before undertaking this diet plan. It may not be the best choice for you, especially if you have an underlying medical condition. The best way to lose weight is by creating a diet that focuses on healthy food and increasing your activity. Detox diets may do more harm than good.
