Lake Fishing
Find Fall Creek Falls Lake in the center of the Fall Creek Falls State Park. Rent paddle boats, canoes and aluminum fishing boats from the lake marina, or fish the lake from fishing cabins available through the Fall Creek Falls State Park website. No private boats or gasoline-powered engines are permitted on the lake, but fishermen can bring their own trolling motors and batteries to use on rental boats.
Creek Fishing
Fall Creek Falls has many creeks and streams throughout the park, and all creeks and streams are open for fishing. Both bass and bluegill are plentiful in the streams, and you can easily access all streams within the park boundaries. Fish Cane Creek near the nature center or at the picnic area off of the highway near the stables. Get to Piney Creek by using the Piney Falls swinging bridge or the overnight trails. Falls Creek is located at the base of the Fall Creek Falls.
Shoreline Fishing
If your idea of a successful fishing trip is relaxing on the shoreline, Fall Creek Falls State Park is the place for you. Find shoreline fishing spots by visiting the Fall Creek Falls Dam. Many fishermen choose a location near the dam on either side at the base. Other shoreline spots include some areas in front of the Fall Creek Falls Inn. Renting a fishing cabin allows you to shoreline fish right off the front porch. No fishing is allowed at any designated mooring or swimming areas, and there's no fishing off of bridges.
Fishing Tackle and Bait
Falls Creek Falls State Park Marina has fishing supplies for all levels and types of fishermen. Dipping bait from the water is not allowed in the park, and you can't bring in any live fish or fish eggs for bait. However, artificial bait is permitted. The best artificial lures for catfish and large mouth bass resemble prey such as baitfish, crayfish, frogs or worms. Try artificial worms and minnows for panfish and blue gill.
