Saline solution is used for a variety of medical purposes. Saline solution is often used instead of pure water because the body's fluids naturally have some salt in them. Saline solution can be used intravenously to help prevent dehydration and low blood pressure, and it can also be used to wash and clean the body and its orifices. Saline solution is also used to wash the eyes and the nasal cavity.
