How to Get Curly Hair Silky & Straight

It seems that people often want what they don't have. For example, people with curly hair often want silky, straight hair. People with silky, straight hair know that their hair often does not hold a style and can look limp without the perfect haircut. Chances are, whatever type of hair you have, you sometimes want a change. Fortunately, anyone who has curly hair and wants to experiment with a silky straight look can do so easily. The process involves multiple steps, but, with a little practice, is not terribly time consuming.

Step 1

Start with clean, wet hair. When you get out of the shower use a towel, or even better, a clean T-shirt, to squeeze the moisture out of your hair. Don't rub or twist your hair to get the moisture out, this will encourage it to become frizzy. It is nearly impossible to straighten curly hair without starting with wet hair.

Step 2

Use alligator jaw hair clips to divide your hair into six sections, three across the top layer and three across the bottom. These sections do not have to be exactly even, they are simply to make your hair more manageable while you are blow-drying it straight.

Step 3

Use a round brush to hold tension in your hair to keep it straight while you blow-dry your hair. Work in 1- or 2-inch sections, with the round brush underneath your hair and the hairdryer above your hair. Hold the blow dryer up high and point it so that the hot air blows down the hair shaft. Move the brush and the hairdryer down the length of your hair. This will help keep your hair smooth. Work from the bottom sections of your hair and finish with the areas at the top and front of your head.

Step 4

Use a flat iron. Once your hair is dry, it should be straight. It probably will look rather coarse, however. Run a flat iron down 1-inch sections of hair to smooth the hair and create a sleek look. Keep the flat iron vertical as you run it down the hair. This will prevent a bend at the end of the hair.

Step 5

Squeeze several drops of anti frizz serum onto your palms, once you have finished with the flat iron. Rub your hands together and then distribute this through your hair. This will create the silky style you are looking for.

Step 6

Finish by styling. Once your hair is silky and straight, style it however you wish. You can flat iron your bangs to one side, tuck a chunk behind your ears or use bobby pins or clips. Avoid misting it with water, however, as this will bring the curls back.
