Acne is the inflammation and subsequent infection of the hair follicles, most commonly occurring on the face, back, shoulders and neck. Aside from the obvious embarrassment that tends to happen when an individual is forced to attend a special event, acne can leave permanent scars if left untreated. Over-the-counter acne medications can be effective, but some individuals prefer to use a natural approach and avoid harsh chemicals that can cause irritation. Step 1

Keep the acne clean and dry by washing twice a day with a fragrance-free soap. Dab the skin dry with a clean towel. Drink a tea made by combining 1/2 tsp. each of fennel seed, cumin and coriander in a tea ball or reusable cotton tea bag, available at health food stores. Pour hot water into a cup containing the tea, and allow it to steep for 10 minutes. Drink this tea three times a day, after meals. According to Holistic-Online, this combination of spices helps to balance the body and eliminates the toxins that are causing and aggravating the acne.

Step 5

Eat bland foods like oatmeal and rice. Avoid eating spicy foods, foods that have been fried and citrus fruit. According to traditional Ayurvedic medicine, acne is caused by eating foods that create an imbalance in the body. By eating foods that are the opposite to those that cause acne, the acne will clear up, and the body will be restored to balance.
