While golf carts once traveled only on the golf course, they can now be found in a number of surprising applications. The golf cart's small size allows it to maneuver through narrow trails or even busy urban areas. It provides an eco-friendly alternative to cars for quick trips and can help disabled or elderly individuals enjoy a high level of freedom, both on the golf course and off.

Golf Course Uses

Transporting players and equipment from one hole to the next remains the primary use for golf carts. Since most players can't afford a caddy of their own, the golf cart serves as an effective way to carry clubs around the course while conserving energy for the game. These carts also allow elderly or disabled players to complete a full round of golf without struggling to walk to the next tee. The golf cart also makes it more convenient for players to break for lunch or the restroom no matter where they happen to be on the course.

Small Town Transportation

Golf carts offer an inexpensive option for getting around a small town, running errands or transporting groceries back to the home. Compared with cars, golf carts produce little pollution and can fit in areas an average vehicle cannot. These carts may ease traffic and parking problems in commercial districts and allow some residents to live free of car insurance and maintenance expenses.

Carry Camping Gear

Many campgrounds maintain a number of golf carts for patrons to use for quick trips or transporting gear. The average RV is simply too large to drive back and forth to the store or the campground pool, and once the campsite has been set up, few patrons are willing to disassemble gear and move an RV or pop-up camper. Even those with standard trucks or cars may have trailers attached that can make running errands in the vehicle impractical. Golf carts allow campers to transport gear to the pool or recreation areas with ease, or make a quick trip to the canteen for supplies. They also offer an efficient way to visit other campers or simply take a look at the grounds without a lengthy walk. Best of all, golf carts offer reduced emissions compared with cars and RVs so the beauty of nature can be preserved.

Golf Carts on Campus

Both retirement centers and school campuses often keep a few golf carts to transport staff, students and visitors. These carts carry work crews and equipment for lawn care and building repair projects, and transport students or residents with temporary or permanent disabilities to dorms and public areas. Community golf carts also offer an effective solution for transporting gear and people to buildings that may not be accessible from roads or parking garages.
